Senhora do Monte Viewpoint – one of the best views of Lisbon
Lisbon is known as the city of seven hills, and that´s because is full of viewpoints with fantastic views. The Senhora do Monte Viewpoint, located in the Graça neighborhood, it offers a unique panoramic, undoubtedly one of the most beautiful views of Lisbon, especially for being one of the highest points of the city.
The half-moon shape, provides a broader view of Lisbon, it is possible to observe from this point the Graça Church, the estuary of the Tagus, São Jorge Castle and the roofs of Mouraria. Further, the low Pombal arises, Carmo Convent ruins, the Serra de Monsanto and Penha de França. These points are marked on a tile panel, so visitors can identify the monuments.
Besides the view, those passing by Senhora do Monte Viewpoint can also enjoy some drinks and snacks from 3 street food vans on site. One of them, is even of the famous coffee shop A Brasileira.
On site is also the Chapel of Senhora do Monte, built in 1796. Earlier there was in the same place at a hermitage dedicated to Saint Gens, which was destroyed in the earthquake of 1755. Within this small chapel is the famous chair of São Gens, which according tradition, guarantee success in the delivery of pregnant women who sit there.
